In this, the last day of 2007,
I ask my self: "Am I better off than I was a year ago, today?"
I have to answer, "Yes." for me, and me only.
You? I'm not interested in the global picture. I mean you, as you sit, today.
Better a year ago, or today?
Call it.

Yup, for both me and mine. I hope the trend continues for you as well. Happy new year.

I'm getting there. Closer to better. I'm calling that progress.
I have to go with: no better and no worse, but making an honest effort to improve myself.
Better today.
Happy New Year!
Yes, definitely.
Most definitely today.
Much better today. thats for sure.
Have a happy new year!
Slightly worse. Not terribly, but slightly worse.
Well I'm another year older and deeper in debt but that is the American way. All in all, life's been good to me the past year.
My family and friends still love and care about me. I am well fed, clothed and housed. My health could be better but I'm still able to get around and go to the range once a week or so.
The Liberals haven't turned us into a Communist country yet although they are still trying their damndest.
Life is good for now other than the usual B.S. you have to put up with from the darker side of humanity.
Am I better off than last year? I can't really say. I think things are about the same.
Happy New Year! I hope you and yours have a good 2008. Hopefully the Liberals won't completely take over.
Yes, most assuredly.
Regards,
Rabbit.
Better a year ago...but the New year has prospects!
Hell, yes! And it's getting better! I'm moving to a city in north Texas that sounds a lot like the word for an armored possum in less than two weeks. To accept a better job than the one I have now.
Life is sweet.
Yup.
Hands down.
And thanks for the reminder.
Happy New Year, Matt.

2007 was a meat-grinder for my wife and me. Anything that 2008 can throw at us will be better.
All-in-all though, we are better than we were in 2006 - just running on less sleep, more caffeine and working our collective butts off with a new business venture.
Good question. Thanks for asking it in exactly this way.
I don't know. I honestly don't remember last year. One of the benefits of getting older and being constantly overworked, I guess.
A great post, Matt - - Short and to the point, with lotsa food for thought.
I started to enter a comment, but instead to make it into a lengthy post of my own . . .
Da'
Worse. Fun job that I loved turned into a despised chore. Good boss left, new boss is a stupid, willfully ignorant micromanager from hell. The only thing keeping me from going postal is my beautiful, wonderful wife who keeps me relatively sane.
Bleah.
Am I better...
Better:
-- More boomsticks!
-- Officially a "blogger" (do your own finger quotes)
-- One class left in grad school
-- No tonsils
-- Nebraska has shall-issue CCW
Worse:
-- Same craptacular, life-sucking job, just more of it.
-- Hilary as prez not a threat, but a possibility.
-- More student loan debt
-- No bonus at work this year
All in all, a give "better" the win by a nose... A new 1911 and an AR build usually trump at-work nastiness.
My first child was born, but my dad died in 2007.
I have to say better, though I miss my dad something fierce.
