Collaboration excuses and whining.
It's been done for a coupla days. Just need to clean it up and have AD and Babs peruse it.
Issues:
Today I pick up the biggest truck Budget will rent me. ("Are you sure you don't have anything that requires a commercial license to drive?" I asked.) At about $100/day, my bill will be about $220. Add-ons. Feh.
I'm putting everything remaining in my house into that thing, and dumping half of it into a storage unit, and the other half into a little rent house I'm getting. While it's a nice little house, it's a rent house. Rent houses are the worst of both worlds-- you're paying someone else to live there, you own nothing, and you still have to mow the damned lawn.
The upside is, the landlady's apparently a peach, she's willing to go month-to-month while we look for a house to buy, and the commute to work is about a block and a half.
Closing Friday. Moving all this weekend.
Haven't even begun to think about getting an ISP set up at the new address. Or water. Or electricity. (Note: Do those things.)
Are you seeing where I'm going with this? The whole Blog thing? It's gonna get set aside, a tad.
Sorry 'bout that.

Good luck with the move!

Dude, if I weren't teaching a class this weekend, I'd drive to Bugscuffle and help you move. Seriously.
But only the light stuff. Pillows, not books. ;)
When you get settled, send me your new addy and I'll send you some Quikclot. You're not the only procrastinator. ;)
No internet? Are you sure?
Arrrr!
Jesus says it's OK to pirate wi-fi if it's important.
Good luck and take care of your back.
Hurry Back. I really enjoy your blog.
Oh, there will always be coffee breaks at work...
A COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED UPDATE
Just for the purpose of keeping you current . . . .
The move proceeds apace. I arrived at the rent house shortly before Matt and family did and met the nice Landlady. She was on the porch and immediately knocked me off as the new tenant's father. Turned out she'd come to drop off some new door lock stuff and dropped her ONLY key. With the perversity of inanimate objects everywhere, it managed to fall edgewise between two boards of the porch and was well hidden beneath the sturdy porch. Happily, she had a makeshift pry bar and I had some tools. I removed a length of quarter-round base trim and the two of us pryed up one (ONLY one, huzzah!) board. While I held it up, LL used a flashlight --full dark having arrived-- and located the key. We replaced the board and moulding with only the recycled nails. Matt having gotten the electricity turned on, LL turned on all the lights. Then she and I rolled up and removed a large rug and placed it in her truck. We finished shortly before Matt and fambly arrived in truck and daughter-in-law's car.
That was a plenty BIG truck. After some brief planning, Matt expertly backed it into the front yard, and the built-in ramp ran right onto the porch. I provided only very minor assistance in unloading, but mainly installed the new deadbolt locks, front and rear. Priority move: set up a tv-video player to keep my granddaughters entertained and out from under foot. They are the two sweetest girls on this planet --I'll defend this position aggressively-- but they DO want to participate in whatever's happening . . . .
Considering the long hours of this particular day, all concerned were extremely cheerful and sweet. I mentioned this to DIL and she said the possession of the check for the just-sold house helped a lot. ;-) All was finished by a bit after midnight. Matt's returning the rental truck before noon, and I'll be there to move some last minute stuff in my pickup truck. Thankfully, Matt was able to work a swap of hours, so he's off Saturday night. What with going back to work Sunday evening, and hellping his Bride organize the household, I don't look for Matt to blog much in the next few days. But who knows? He's fooled me before. ;-

Don sez Baby Jesus sez it's okay, so:
House is empty except for the Final Pile Of Crap (tm) in living room, and three floor matresses.
Final cleaning, tiny fix-it jobs (replace light switch, paint scrape on wall) that may not technically be required, but sure help keep one's karma intact.
Back is reasonably tight.
Wife's asthma has understandably flourished. (The garage.) [shudder]
Kids are awesome, thanks in great part to my mama helping a LOT. My parents have been hugely helpful.
Gotta get back to it.
Matt,
New reader- good luck with the move- isn't that right up there with loss of loved one and loss of job on the old Stress o' Meter. I think I'm just gonna pay someone after we build.
Watch the spine- look forward to you back and posting.
John
