Think the drought's broken yet?
I heard a P.S.A. on the radio the other night, read by a D.J. who obviously wasn't real impressed with the message. I suppose that the local water districts just assume that summertime means drought, because the text said, "The Upper Trinity Water Authority reminds you to seek out new ways to conserve water, as our reservoirs are low and are short on natural methods of replenishment." He paused for a second, and I marveled at the 2"-an-hour downpour that was slowing my travel on a good highway to under 30 m.p.h. before hearing him mutter over the air, "Not anymore..."
They're opening the fourth sluice gate on Possum Kingdom Dam this weekend just to keep the water from coming over the top. Sucks for those who've always assumed the Brazos would always remain 6" deep and 100 yards wide, and built accordingly.
