Better And Better

If you don't draw yours, I won't draw mine. A police officer, working in the small town that he lives in, focusing on family and shooting and coffee, and occasionally putting some people in jail.

Again.

Tragedy struck.

It hit us all where we lived.

And we were stunned.

And our thoughts were constantly on the blow we'd been struck.

The dead children.

And our President wept as he spoke. "Something has to change," he said.

And we were moved.

And we passed swift legislation.

Because we had to Do Something.

And we said "Never Again."

And the USA PATRIOT ACT is still with us.

and NO ONE, no one is saying we need better mental health care, longterm care. That would be an entitlement. It is what is needed.

It was horrible legislation, and a direct attack on the Constitution. Even as an infantryman who enlisted after 9-11, not knowing if I would be laying down my life for some younger soldier, I deplored the so-called Patriot Act.
