Once again, friends...
I am compelled to remind everyone, and to ask all y'all to remind others:
An apostrophe's function is not to warn the reader of an impending S.
That is all.

If you don't draw yours, I won't draw mine. A police officer, working in the small town that he lives in, focusing on family and shooting and coffee, and occasionally putting some people in jail.

THANK YOU!!!
Thank's for pointing that out! :)
That is exactly what we observe in my family: To some people the " ' " means, "Here comes an S!".

I ran across an out-of-place apostrophe in my Psychology and Law textbook last night. It threw me completely off my train of thought as I began to imagine red ink pens marking up the page. If I should ever enter the teaching profession, this book will be required reading.
Maybe I should consider a career change. Do copy editors make a decent living?
What's with all the grammar and english corrections on everyone's blog these days. These are blog comments. We're not writing a book here. So what if the writing is a little sloppy? :-)
Dad, banned me. Am I still welcome here or do you consider me banned also?
I'm right there with 'Scott. Apostrophe abuse is so rampant down here that I'm developing bad habits. You'd think somebody would at least run the name of their store through a grammar checker before they spent a few thousand dollars on a sign.
I aint's got's no idear's what's you's talkin about.
AR-- I actually just plopped the post n my blog in respoonse to my exasperation after having read the written statement of an educated, respected person that I was using in a case report at work. It was not in direct response to anything that I read in comments, here or elsewhere.
I haven't found the need to ban anyone from my blog, and I've not seen anyone else ban you, either.
Hmmm... I understood from a comment that your dad made about what I now admit was a poorly worded comment about the difference between hunters and trophy hunters that I was not welcome on his blog anymore. I tried emailing him to apologize but he has not responded.
What I said in that comment was not exactly what I meant. I should have put more thought into it. Right now though, as I understand it I am not welcome at "Expert Witness".
Getting the axe from there kind of hurt a little. I liked the blog and I like the old coot that writes it. He reminds me of my dad in many ways.
Would you possibly check and see if I am indeed banned or not? I think he is mad at me and won't respond to my emails.

I so love Mama's Daughters' Diner in Dallas for getting it right.
