Pull Up.
My father carried or wore the badge of a Texas peace officer for over 40 years.
He investigated, arrested, and helped prosecute organized crime, capital murder, dirty cops, child molesters, rapists, burglars, robbers, violent thugs, and many others.
As stated before, members of the Bandidos street crime syndicate threatened him and his family in open court when I was a child.
Dad never had an unlisted number. Moreover, if you looked up his phone number, there was his address in the phone book.
I asked him about that. He said, "I've never tried to hide. If they want to see me, they can pull up."
I have a marked car out in the driveway. And yes, I have a few cameras around the place (You should, too. They are cheap and easy tools.). Yes, I have good locks on the doors, as we all should. But if you have a beef to settle, I'm not hard to find. I live in the town that I serve, and almost everyone in town knows me. At work, I begin contacts with people by introducing myself by name and title.
I've made some people unhappy with the things that I've said and the things that I've done, and more than one has made concerted efforts to hurt me professionally. I'm not mad about it; our First Amendment protects the citizens' free speech and their redress of grievances.
It has been awhile since anyone tried to hurt me physically. It's been considerably more recent that someone has verbally threatened me about coming for me later. In some cases, they have accurately described my house in town. If they ever want to make good, I guess that they can pull up. I hope that they don't, but I can't live fear of that.
In my last post comments, Anony-Mouse said:
"ICE and DHS officers are under specific threat from foreign and domestic criminal organizations and you know it. We have allowed in the Third World and now our police have to wear masks like in Mexico. We are transitioning to a low-trust society and it’s going to get worse."
A few years ago, someone who claimed to represent one of the Mexican drug cartels put out a statement that any cop who tried to interfere with a shipment of drugs headed north would receive reprisals against him and his family. Word of this threat went out far and wide among Texas peace officers. Our efforts were not, uh, quelled. I believe that the phrase "renewed vigor" would not be inappropriate to use to describe the response.
Anony-Mouse knows about hiding their name. I don't even have a channel to send him or her a private message.
But I'll say this: I am ready to meet with him or her, and talk about what I know.
