Better And Better

If you don't draw yours, I won't draw mine. A police officer, working in the small town that he lives in, focusing on family and shooting and coffee, and occasionally putting some people in jail.

Firearms fashion issues.

Tamara notes fashion issues on open carry of firearms. Because I typically openly carry while in uniform, that's not a major issue with me. But occasionally, I do. This November, I am attending a wedding, in which I will be wearing an overpriced rented tuxedo with a mother-of-pearl bedecked Gold Cup. I've no intention of letting the Gold Cup be hidden, and am considering the question of how to effectively carry my wedding gun while tuxedo'd, in pants without belt loops. I don't own a black shoulder holster, and really would rather carry at belt level, anyhow. The trousers will be held up by braces.

I'm speculating on the concept of discreetly tacking a couple of temporary belt loops to the slacks, to be cut off at the end of the wedding. I have given some thought to creating a device to connect the belt to the suspenders, but I haven't the time or the materials or the patience.

We'll see how this goes.

I'd like to think that someone makes a gunbelt suitable for formal occasions.

Maybe one of these in black?

Put the clips in the outside-the-waistband position, and clip it to your actual waistband sans belt.

Be aware that Ted has quite a waiting list for special orders.

Get a smartcarry rig for it and turn it to the side. Worked for a Bersa .380 and sweats.

The Ted Blocker clip holster is okay, but it sure does want to hide my pretty Gold Cup. This will be a private wedding, and basically I'm carrying the Gold Cup as a barbecue gun.

A shoulder holster really seems like the right answer. But maybe Texas has a precedent for separate gun belts, though that seems unlikely with an auto.

I'm interested in the final solution!

Maybe this?

You don't need belt loops to wear a Western rig.

If you have time, I'm sure he could make a buffalo hunter or concho'ed version for even better bling.

How about a paddle holster? If the tension of the paddle is set high enough, it should ride fine. Although a full paddle and a Gold Cup will be some ounces to keep from sagging.

The proper gun to wear with a tuxedo is a Walther PPK.

I'm thinking a Doc Holiday style holster.

If it's possible to find one for a Gold Cup.

MOTHER-OF-PEARL?

Are you out of your mind?

Let me at least look for a set of staghorn or bone grips, if not ivory, for you to affix to it.

Unless the occasion is in South O.C. or west Dallas. In that case, you get a pass for this one.

Regards,
Rabbit.

A Western-style gun belt does sound like the best option.

Seems to me that shoulder rigs are mandatory for tuxedo toting. I seem to recall Galco having a very fancy rig in brown or black.

Isn't the RCMP rig just a normal Sam Browne with a shoulder strap? If you can keep the jacket buttoned with the rig outside it, it might look better than just strapping a big belt over everything.
